Everything happened to me like I was in a dream, because I was'nt told by any body about it. All I have to say is this, may HIS SPIRIT be accepted among the saints, may the good LORD grant HIM mercy and may HE be kept in a paradise in the heavens where we all shall meet and part no more.

EKWURUONU CHARLES farewell my model February 16, 2010
Message from EKWURUONU CHARLES:
I was at ibeme mbano for the first time for the most painful event of my life for time to come. I listened to the oration all the while trying not to cry because I decided not to attend with a handkerchief. I only wanted to console those beautiful people you left behind but I never knew exit could be this painful. you inspired & motivated me to finish my education & I looked forward to showing you my degree when I get it but right now I feel pain & emptiness but if what you wanted for me was just success I promise to succeed.I will no doubt nurse a broken a broken heart for all times but what is a heart if it can't be broken. farewell my model you will not be forgotten.
Chukwumezie Family Chief Kanayo February 8, 2010

Oga Don,

Coming from the Diaspora in 1996, I discovered an idol in you. Being a young transporter for Golden Guinea breweries, your dedication and accessibility to me and others, even with your position as Director of finance, was so inspiring and emulating especially to those of us you did not know. While the conspiracy that culminated to your exit from the company remains unanswered, your wisdom and intelligence remained unequalled. Little wonder you, till your last days, worked to revive the same brewery that treated you so badly, but could not be revived before your untimely death. Idol of the youth, you turned my wedding to an Ofalla (Carnival) in 1998 by advising me to go for the party master of all Golden Guinea brands.

Seeing you on your bicycle in those years was like seeing the prestigious headmasters of the yesteryears on their white horses as we read as children. But yours was nobler and more humble since you chose it when it was the least means of transportation.

Oga Don, you were a model to the young Umuahians then. You were a model till death, for your hand never rested. You exalt things deemed low to prestigious levels. Just like the riding of bicycle when you had one of the most prestigious cars, you exalted tailoring such that the high and mighty craves for a piece of your designs.

You may be gone, but your foot prints for sure will linger longer than any one can imagine.

Destiny later brought our families again together through your beloved brother Fr. Ngozi and also through our dear sister-in-law (Kemi) with whom you enjoyed “blowing” Yoruba language together. Thus, while I cherish my personal relationship with you in the 1990s, I cherish even more that between the Chukwumezie family and Osuji family since the turn of this century.

Your numerous visits to our loving mother, even as she consistently called you “Fr. Ngozi” to your amusement, will remain indelible in our hearts. Our Rev. Sr. Beaty recalls a few of your conversations with her, especially the piousness on your face when you stated that “we are all at the level of charity now, God has enriched us, so, we should enrich others”. You really lived that charity to the core!!!

Adieu Oga Don, Adieu Idol, Adieu Role model. We love you dear but God who loaned you to us loves you more and has recalled you to His presence. May your gentle soul rest in the bosom of the Lord, Amen.
